Praise to the Lord for the recollection that was held in St. Dominic Lahad Datu on March 23, 2024 (Saturday). Millions of thanks to the Divine Mercy Outreach Team of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Mr. Alexander Tham as speaker for providing sharing and recollection for 65 contestants, which included 27 catechumens who were to be baptized on March 30th, Easter Virgil 2024. 18 pupils were to be confirmed in 2024, and 20 are from St. Dominic’s parishioners.
Special thanks to Rev. Fr.Stanley Matakim for his unconditionally support in allowing us to hold this recollection even though he is really busy outstation and visiting those who are sick at home, as well as in preparing for Holy Week and Easter Day.
We are so grateful for the instance agreed upon by Mr.Alexander and his team, who willingly flew to Lahad Datu just to give us a day of Divine Mercy recollection. By the way, Mr. Alexander is assisted by his teammates, Mr. Collin Godomon (Soccom Archdiocese Kota Kinabalu) and Mdm. Estelita.
The theme of this recollection is as follows:
St. Faustina’s Diary 570, “…. through the image, I will give many mercies to souls; therefore, let every soul have an opportunity to approach it.”
The goal of this recollection is to strengthen all participants, with the aim as follows:
- Recognize and enhance understanding of divine mercy.
- Knowing how to pray the 3 o’clock of Divine Mercy
- How to celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy
- Faith Formation and Divine Mercy
It’s been so long since Movement Control Order (MCO), and we were visited by Outreach Divine Mercy Archdioceses in Kota Kinabalu.
As parishioners of St. Dominic and as the President of the Divine Mercy Team since 2018, we have been really longing for this kind of recollection. Just to refresh, remind us of the last message of Jesus through St. Faustina. Hopefully, we will activate our team activity as usual so that we are responsible for spreading Jesus’s message and mercy to all.
This recollection program is kind of alarming for us because of the state of our faith in living nowadays and facing the world through His mercy. We are so grateful to have this image through St. Faustina; we are all given chances to repent and come to His mercy in any situation of our lives because His mercy is unconditional.
All participants felt joy and learned a lot through this recollection. We do hope that there will be another recollection activity soon so that more parishioners will come and join us. May God bless you all. Amen.
