The course is specially designed to cater for teachers and church leaders who wish to prepare themselves in the teaching of Bible Knowledge to secondary school students of the parish.
G. Anthony clarifying a point
The speaker of the course was G. Anthony, the SPM Bible Knowledge Coordinator from the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.
This same course was conducted at St. Mary’s Cathedral Sandakan last year but Msgr. Nicholas Ong, the Rector of Holy Trinity Church felt more people would benefit if the course were to be given again at Holy Trinity.
A total of nearly 30 mission school and Sunday school teachers, RCIA facilitators together with some parish leaders attended.
For the course, Anthony gave each participant a copy of the book he himself prepared comprising the background notes to the Gospel according to St Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
A sharing session
Participants were brought to a good understanding of the text content in a series of sessions and presentations.
Spiritual input by Fr Phillip Muji
Throughout the course spiritual input was not neglected and time was allocated each day for attending the daily evening mass.
They were also led through previous years’ SPM papers to familiarize themselves with the examination format.
Presentation of certificates
Certificates of attendance were given to those who completed the course.
Those who attended the course were very grateful to Anthony in his untiring effort to help them promote Bible knowledge to Christian students.
Autographing his book
Former Sunday school teacher Isabel who attended the course said she was grateful to have joined. She felt the course deepened her Bible knowledge and she was pondering rejoining the Sunday school ministry.
All the participants were also thankful to Msgr. Nicholas Ong for providing the course to them free of charge.
