A film on the life of Padre Pio was shown to the parishioners of St. Mary’s Sandakan on the 22-01-2010. It was the first time a film was ever shown in the parish. The Alpha Team of Sandakan held the screening in the parish hall at around 7.15pm.
Approximately 450 people attended the screening which took more than three hours. It was an interesting event attended by a cross section of the parish comprising the young, families and more mature audience.

Parishioners came early and the front seats were quickly filled up. Soon more chairs had to be taken out when the ones arranged earlier were quickly filled. His Lordship Bishop Julius D Gitom also took time out to attend the screening. Rev. Fr. Thomas Makajil the Rector of St. Mary’s also attended the event. With this encouraging turnover, the organizer is confident that more films will be shown in the future.
