Tawau : The Indonesian community of Holy Trinity Church Tawau celebrated their 18th anniversary of the formation of their pastoral community with a thanksgiving mass on Sunday, April 18th 2010, attended by some 800 members of the Indonesian parishioners, many coming from the outstations.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the event continued with a lunch fellowship and presentations by the community in the parish hall.

Reflecting of the last 18 years, their pastoral committee chairman, Gabriel Nunang paid tribute to the earlier year leaders for their untiring efforts of building up the community like doing house to house visits and setting up the kumpulan ibu ibu Indonesia.

Today, the Indonesian community is one of the largest in Holy Trinity Church, with many of them deeply involved in parish activities.

Commenting on their theme of the celebration ‘Menanam semangat cintakasih Antara sesama’, Fr. Philip Muji the Assistant Rector encouraged them to continue getting involved in parish activities together with the other parish communities.

“Live in harmony with your brothers and sisters of the other races, and serve one another without condition.” he said.

The celebration ended with a closing prayer at 3pm.
