Sandakan : Christmas is a season for parties, merry making and social events. The Women’s Apostolate of St Mary’s Cathedral hosted a Christmas party for some 130 children accompanied by their parents Saturday December 11 2010 at  10.00 am at the Parish Hall.

The event was filled with songs, dances, games, lucky draw and presentation of gifts both  by Santa Claus and Santarina.

The following day, Sunday December 12 2010, the Pastoral Committee of St Mark’s Church organized a 3-in-1 Christmas party for the senior members, the young people and the children.

The children had a wonderful time, enjoying themselves in games and receiving presents.

Dimeh Koyopo, the Chairman of the Pastoral Committee said Christmas is an occasion to promote and enhance solidarity among the local parishioners and the migrants Accordingly, more than 40 per cent of the parishioners are migrants. It is a time to celebrate God’s love of us and to share His love with others.He urged everyone to draw close to Jesus Christ during this season as it is because of Christ we have Christmas.

The organizing committee enlisted the assistance of the young people, mostly from the BEC of Mile 10 to help out in planning and implementing the activities of the day.
