Sandakan, 6 February 2026 – The Star of Yahweh Covenant Community (SYCC) of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish, Sandakan, held its Members’ Signing Ceremony on the evening of 6 February 2026 at St. Joseph Catechetical Hall.
The Star of Yahweh Covenant Community is a Catholic fraternity whose members freely enter into a covenantal commitment, binding themselves to God and to one another in a shared journey towards holiness, faithful discipleship, and righteous living.
In his welcoming address, Presiding Elder Philip Mosinoh expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who courageously stepped forward in faith to deepen their commitment to the community. He acknowledged their generosity in offering their time, gifts, and talents for the service of the Church. Entrusting them to God’s providence, he invoked divine blessings upon all members as they continue their spiritual formation and mission within the parish.

The ceremony witnessed the signing of nine Associate Members and fourteen Underway Members. The SYCC formation pathway calls members to journey progressively through stages of commitment—beginning as Associate Members, then Underway Members—before being received as full-fledged members of the community.

In response to the growing needs of the fraternity, the SYCC Body of Elders discerned the call to raise additional leaders. Following consultation with the Light of Jesus Christ Covenant Community in Kota Kinabalu and in accordance with established Covenant Community guidelines, three Underway Elders were appointed: Timothy James Michael, Aaron Hiew Kim Pin, and Aloysius Kan. In due time, they will be formally integrated into the Body of Elders.
The ceremony concluded with a solemn prayer for the newly appointed Underway Elders, asking the Lord to grant them strength, wisdom, humility, and discernment in shepherding the community. As Sacred Scripture reminds us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace” (1 Peter 4:10).
