Holy Trinity Parish Tawau together with the Red Crecent and Blood Bank of Tawau Hospital organized a half day Blood Donation Drive on the 15th May 2011 at the Parish Hall.
Started last year in respond to the need for blood by the General Hospital, the organizers plan to have the event every three months.
After the final blessing of the weekend masses, the rector, Msgr. Nicholas Ong encouraged the parishioners to respond generously.
“Donating our blood to others is a very strong gesture of our care and love for humanity.” He said. “We give our blood to others irrespective of race or faith. We must not forget too that some of our own parishioners have also benefited from the generosity of others.”
Donation started at 8.00 am and ended at 12.30pm with 45 pints of blood collected from the various pastoral communities including the youth.
