JCK – SOCCOM Tawau.
Tawau : The Mystery of God’s saving love begins on the day when He entered Jerusalem where the Jewish people were glorifying Him with Palm and exulted Him with praising. To commemorate this event all Catholics around the world celebrating Palm Sunday are called to rejoice on this day.
This is the Day on which the Church enters the Mystery of the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Her Lord, the Paschal Mystery of Christ the King entering Jerusalem and proclaiming His Passion. It marks our entry into Holy Week. The Church was packed and the little drizzle did not at all dampen the spirit of the faithful.
Msgr. Nicholas Ong, the rector presided over the Holy Week celebrations, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday Service and Easter Sunday.
The mystery of the TRIDUM begins on Holy Thursday till the day the Lord is raised from the dead. Msgr Nicholas Ong said ‘ The Passion of Christ has brought us victory and salvation. The day we rejoice and welcome Christ as our king. The saving love of Christ is shown when Christ embrace humbly the Cross and these are the tremendous examples of humility and the true meaning of Christ’s mission ~ to love and to serve humbly to one and another which happen in the Last Supper’.
He continued to say, ‘when Jesus washes his disciples feet, it is the most beautiful act for us to imitate the humble Servant. He put down His self to wash the disciples’ feet so that we may follow His examples by serving others with humility and love even to death as it’s been revealed to us on Good Friday .
Participating in the Station of the Cross held on Friday, 6th April at 8.00 am really remind us of the value of honoring the Cross and embracing our own, allowing us to participate in God’s passion and resurrection. Good Friday service was held at 3.00 pm.
The glorious resurrection of the Lord is truly significant that Christ is our light who has overcome darkness. The Paschal Candle symbolizes ‘The Light that illuminates the whole world’. At Easter Vigil, 65 catechumens were initiated into the Catholic Church at Holy Trinity Church and 8 others were accepted to the Church at St. Stephen Tass.
Quoted from his homily, Msgr Nicholas said, ‘ through baptism we have a new life, God destroyed all sins by the water of baptism and grant you the holy spirit through confirmation and by receiving the Holy communion you will be strengthened and will continue to grow in your faith’.
The Lord has risen indeed, Alleluia. Through His resurrection we are made righteous to God the father through Christ.
