On March 29, 2024, the Way of the Cross begins at 9:00 a.m. with the opening prayer by Rev. Father Simon Kontou, who conducts the Way of the Cross in 3 languages (English, Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia). The cross is carried by the altar server, the youth (Chinese and Monford boys) and other volunteers. About 700 parishioners attend the Stations of the Cross at St. Mary Cathedral.

The Bahasa service begins at 1:30 p.m. and the English service begins at 5:00 p.m. The main celebrant of these two masses is parish priest Fr Simon Kontou. He begins the mass with a solemn entry.

In his homily he reminds us that Jesus endured such great suffering and humiliation just to show us how great his love is. He also mentioned that if Judas Iscariot apologized to Jesus before Jesus’ death on the cross, Jesus would certainly forgive him, for He is full of mercy and infinite compassion. This is to remind us to be grateful, humble, and willingly accept our wrongs so that we can truly experience the most perfect love of Jesus.

After the communion the parishioners proceed with venerating the Cross
